Safety, Feasibility, Yield, Diagnostic and Prognostic Implications of Transjugular Liver Biopsy in Children and Adolescents

Retrospective study of 102 pediatric patients demonstrates transjugular liver biopsy is safe and feasible in children with coagulopathy, thrombocytopenia, or ascites, achieving 99% technical success with only one major complication. The procedure enabled definitive diagnosis in 64% of cases, most commonly autoimmune hepatitis, guiding timely therapeutic intervention.
