Childhood outcome after correction of long-gap esophageal atresia by thoracoscopic external traction technique

Thoracoscopic external traction technique successfully repairs long-gap esophageal atresia in 85% of neonates, enabling esophageal anastomosis within 12 days and oral feeding by 16 days postoperatively. Seven-year follow-up shows most patients achieve normal diet and growth with quality of life comparable to healthy controls, though multiple dilatations and anti-reflux surgery are commonly required.
