Risk factors for recurrent gastroesophageal reflux disease after Thal fundoplication

This retrospective study of 276 patients identified convulsive seizures as the primary risk factor for GERD recurrence after Thal fundoplication, with a 5.8% overall recurrence rate. Absence of tracheostomy was also associated with recurrence, suggesting that seizure control and respiratory status assessment are critical for optimizing surgical outcomes.
