Efficacy of early endoscopic intervention in pediatric pancreatic duct injury management
Topic overview
This retrospective study of 10 pediatric pancreatic trauma patients demonstrates that early endoscopic retrograde pancreatography with stent placement may prevent surgery when the stent crosses the pancreatic duct injury site. Three of four patients with duct injuries required surgery, but successful stent placement across the injury avoided operation in one case.
