Mental Health Outcomes in Pediatric Trauma Patients: A 10 Year Real World Analysis Using a Large Database Approach

This 10-year population-based study using insurance claims data found that 3.3% of children hospitalized for traumatic injury developed subsequent mental health diagnoses, with PTSD occurring in 1.6%. Hospitalized trauma patients showed significantly elevated risk compared to those treated in emergency or outpatient settings and to appendicitis controls.
