Ultrasound guidance improves safety and efficiency of central line placements

Retrospective analysis of 2,010 pediatric central line placements demonstrates that ultrasound-guided technique eliminates chest tube complications (0/1000 vs 9.7/1000 with landmark approach) and reduces operative time by 11 minutes. Study supports routine ultrasound use for central venous access in children.
