A Systematic Review of Prenatally Diagnosed Intra-abdominal Enteric Duplication Cysts
Topic overview
Systematic review of 86 prenatally diagnosed enteric duplication cysts found 41% became symptomatic early (median 2 days) requiring urgent resection for obstruction or volvulus, while 59% underwent elective resection at median 90 days. Cyst size and anatomic location predict symptom development, with gastric duplications more often asymptomatic and jejunal/ileal/colonic lesions more frequently symptomatic.
