Cylindrical and button battery ingestion in children: a single-center experience

Retrospective study of 124 pediatric battery ingestion cases found that button batteries caused severe esophageal damage in 96% of impacted cases, while cylindrical batteries more commonly caused gastric mucosal injury. Early endoscopic removal is critical to prevent gastrointestinal complications, particularly for button batteries lodged in the esophagus.
