Single-stage restorative proctocolectomy for ulcerative colitis in pediatric patients: a safe alternative

Retrospective study of 99 pediatric UC patients demonstrates single-stage restorative proctocolectomy with IPAA is as safe as traditional two-stage approach, with shorter operative time, reduced hospital stay, and lower readmission rates while maintaining equivalent functional outcomes and complication profiles.
