Antibiotic Prophylaxis for Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy in Children: A Randomised Controlled Trial

This randomized controlled trial of 49 children demonstrates that prophylactic co-amoxiclav before PEG placement significantly reduces overall infection rates (13.6% vs 40%) and shortens hospital stays. The findings support routine antibiotic prophylaxis for pediatric PEG procedures to prevent peristomal and systemic infections.
