Early vasopressor administration in pediatric blunt liver and spleen injury: An ATOMAC+ study
Topic overview
Multi-center prospective study of 1,004 children with blunt liver or spleen injuries found that early vasopressor use for hypotension was associated with significantly increased mortality risk but did not affect nonoperative management success rates. All deaths in vasopressor-treated patients occurred within 12 hours of injury.
