Functional outcomes of pediatric laparoscopic pyeloplasty: post-operative functional recovery is superior in infants compared to older children

This retrospective study of 135 children demonstrates that laparoscopic pyeloplasty in infants achieves superior functional recovery compared to older children, with 53% of infant kidneys showing >10% improvement in split renal function versus 26% in older children. Both age groups had comparable success rates and complication profiles, challenging the perception that LP is less suitable for infants.
