Preoperative platelet transfusions: A retrospective review of pediatric patients with thrombocytopenia, 2011-2016

This retrospective study of 37 pediatric surgical patients with severe thrombocytopenia (platelets ≤50×10⁹/L) found no postoperative bleeding complications regardless of transfusion timing. Results support safely deferring platelet transfusions until surgical incision rather than routine preoperative administration.
