Reference values for the external genitalia of full-term and pre-term female neonates

Prospective study of 619 female neonates establishes reference values for external genitalia assessment, defining clitoromegaly as clitoral length >6.5mm and virilization as anogenital ratio >0.6. Findings demonstrate these measurements remain consistent across gestational ages, indicating clitoromegaly should not be attributed to prematurity and values ≥8mm warrant further investigation for disorders of sex development.
