The feasibility of medial segment graft in pediatric liver transplantation revisited by three-dimensional printing
Topic overview
Retrospective study of 291 liver donors demonstrates that medial segment grafts are anatomically feasible in 33% of cases, with mean graft volume of 234ml suitable for pediatric recipients. Using 3D printing models and ex vivo practice on explanted livers, authors propose procurement techniques and recommend initial clinical implementation as auxiliary partial grafts to maximize safety.
