Causes of early mortality in pediatric trauma patients

This retrospective study of 134 pediatric trauma deaths over 10 years found that half occurred within 24 hours, with traumatic brain injury as the leading cause. All hemorrhage-related deaths occurred within 6 hours of arrival, predominantly in adolescent gunshot victims, highlighting a critical window for bleeding control interventions.
