Lung Resection in Children with Necrotizing Pneumonia: Outcome and Follow-up

This retrospective study of 36 pediatric patients who underwent lung resection for necrotizing pneumonia demonstrates favorable long-term outcomes, with 64.8% achieving normal spirometry at median 43-month follow-up. Despite a 77% increase in cases requiring resection over 5 years, aggressive surgical management resulted in significant clinical improvement with low mortality (5.5%).
