Letters of Recommendation for Pediatric Surgery Fellowship: Analysis of Linguistic Differences Based on Gender of the Applicant

This retrospective analysis of 1,264 letters of recommendation for pediatric surgery fellowship applicants found linguistic differences based on gender, but not the typical bias seen in other specialties. Female candidates were described more with work-related excellence terms, potentially reflecting unique selection criteria in pediatric surgery.
