This study evaluates the diagnostic yield of rectal biopsies for Hirschsprung's disease, finding that 78% were negative despite clinical risk factors. Absence of 'red flags' predicted non-HD with 91% negative predictive value, but this alone is insufficient to safely exclude the diagnosis, highlighting the need for improved diagnostic strategies.
