Therapeutic effectiveness of costal cartilage grafting into both anterior and posterior walls for laryngotracheal reconstruction in acquired subglottic stenosis

This 26-year retrospective study demonstrates that laryngotracheal reconstruction using costal cartilage grafts in both anterior and posterior cricoid walls achieves superior outcomes compared to anterior-only grafting in low-birth-weight infants with acquired subglottic stenosis. The dual-wall technique achieved 100% extubation success in patients who completed follow-up, compared to 52% with anterior grafting alone.
