Optimal Rex shunt procedures as a treatment for pediatric extrahepatic portal hypertension

Comparative study of Rex bypass versus Rex transposition shunt procedures in 47 pediatric patients with extrahepatic portal hypertension over 9 years. Rex bypass demonstrated superior outcomes with shorter operative time, better variceal reduction, higher patency rates (91.7% vs 82.6%), and lower rebleeding rates, establishing it as the preferred surgical approach.
