Two novel resource-based metrics to quantify pediatric trauma severity based on probability of requiring critical care and anesthesia services

Study develops two novel resource-based injury severity metrics (ICASS and IGASS) that predict critical care and anesthesia needs, revealing that pediatric trauma burden is nearly equivalent to adults when measured by resource utilization rather than mortality. Traditional mortality-based scores underestimate pediatric injury severity due to lower death rates in children.
