Topic overview

Exposure to general anesthesia (GA) is a necessary risk for many elective procedures. Anesthesia risks, such as the potential risk of neurotoxicity, can be especially concerning for parents. [1] Few studies have evaluated parental preference in how they wish to receive counseling regarding GA. To address this gap, we surveyed parents on which provider, specifically surgeon versus anesthesiologist, they found to be the most helpful in counseling regarding GA risks before their child underwent GA.
