Cholangitis in Patients With Biliary Atresia Receiving Hepatoportoenterostomy: A National Database Study

National database study of 1,112 biliary atresia patients post-hepatoportoenterostomy found median of 2 cholangitis episodes within 2 years. Portal hypertension and black race increased risk, while surgery after 90 days reduced it. Recurrent cholangitis was more common in Asian patients and those with public insurance.
