Impaired motor performance in adolescents with esophageal atresia

Longitudinal study of 23 esophageal atresia patients shows motor performance deteriorates from normal in infancy to significantly impaired by adolescence. Multiple rethoracotomies correlate with worse motor outcomes, highlighting the need for interdisciplinary follow-up programs with motor function monitoring through adolescence.
