Mortality Determinants in Children with Biliary Atresia Awaiting Liver Transplantation

Analysis of 2,704 children with biliary atresia awaiting liver transplant identified key mortality risk factors: elevated bilirubin, portal vein thrombosis, ventilator dependence, and ascites at listing increased risk, while weight ≥10 kg decreased risk. These findings can improve transplant prioritization for high-risk patients with end-stage liver disease.
