Magnet Ingestions in Children Presenting to Emergency Departments in the United States 2009-2019: A Problem in Flux

National surveillance data from 2009-2019 shows a significant increase in pediatric magnet ingestions following the 2016 reintroduction of small rare-earth magnets to the market. Multiple magnet ingestions requiring escalated care increased 5-fold after 2017, with over 23,000 children affected during the study period.
