High ligation in adolescents: Is it enough?

Retrospective study of 267 inguinal hernia repairs in adolescents (ages 12-18) demonstrates that high ligation without mesh achieves acceptable 6% recurrence rate, supporting its use as standard approach in this age group. Patients with cardiac or gastrointestinal comorbidities showed significantly higher recurrence risk and warrant counseling.
