Epigastric Hernias in Children: A Personal Series and Systematic Review of the Literature

Systematic review of 81 pediatric epigastric hernia cases shows these uncommon defects contain only preperitoneal fat, present symptomatically in 35% of cases, and can be successfully repaired via open or laparoscopic approach with no recurrences. Personal series of 37 hernias confirms excellent outcomes with standard open repair.
