Using the Red Cross wound classification to predict treatment needs in children with conflict-related limb injuries: a retrospective database study

Retrospective analysis of 2,463 pediatric conflict casualties demonstrates that ICRC Red Cross wound grading reliably predicts treatment intensity in extremity injuries. Higher wound grades correlated with increased surgical interventions, transfusion requirements, and hospital length of stay, validating this triage tool for resource-limited conflict settings.
