The “non-preventable” preventable transfer? An analysis of the care from support services that injured children transferred to a level 1 pediatric trauma center receive

This retrospective study examined 3,212 pediatric trauma transfers and found that 29% were potentially preventable, yet 30% of these preventable transfers still required support service consultations during admission. The findings suggest that even low-acuity transfers may benefit from specialized pediatric trauma center resources, challenging simple definitions of preventable transfers.
