Stoma Closure Improves Head Circumference Growth in Very Preterm Infants after Necrotizing Enterocolitis

Study of 19 very preterm infants who underwent NEC surgery shows poor head circumference growth while stoma is present, with improvement after stoma closure at median 2.5 months corrected age. Findings suggest timing of stoma closure may impact neurodevelopmental outcomes in this vulnerable population.
