Chest x-ray vs. computed tomography of the chest in pediatric blunt trauma

Retrospective study of 1,235 pediatric blunt trauma patients comparing chest x-ray to CT findings. While CT detected significantly more injuries, chest x-ray demonstrated 57.9% sensitivity and 90.2% specificity, with CT findings changing management in only 8.7% of cases, supporting CXR as an effective initial screening tool in the emergency department.
