Vertical rib plating for the treatment of slipping rib syndrome

Retrospective study of 85 patients demonstrates that adding vertical bioabsorbable rib plating to cartilage resection for slipping rib syndrome reduces symptom recurrence from 17.1% to 3.4%. The technique addresses hypermobile lower costal cartilages causing intercostal nerve impingement in predominantly adolescent patients.
