Intra-Amniotic Sildenafil Treatment Promotes Lung Growth and Attenuates Vascular Remodeling in an Experimental Model of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia
Topic overview
Experimental study demonstrates that intra-amniotic sildenafil treatment in a mouse CDH model improves embryonic pulmonary blood flow, promotes lung growth, reduces pulmonary arterial muscularization, and increases postnatal survival to 82%. Findings suggest defective embryonic pulmonary perfusion contributes to lung maldevelopment in CDH and may be therapeutically targetable.
