Comparison of Hirschsprung Disease Characteristics between Those with a History of Postoperative Enterocolitis and Those without: Results from the Pediatric Colorectal and Pelvic Learning Consortium

Multicenter study of 299 Hirschsprung disease patients identifies transition zone location as key predictor of postoperative enterocolitis risk. Patients with rectosigmoid transition zones showed 54% lower odds of developing HAEC compared to those with more proximal disease, while preoperative HAEC did not predict postoperative episodes.
