Combining Cribari matrix and Need For Trauma Intervention (NFTI) to accurately assess undertriage in pediatric trauma

Study comparing triage assessment methods in pediatric trauma found that combining Cribari Matrix with Need For Trauma Intervention (NFTI) reduced undertriage rates to 2.7% versus 8.2% with Cribari alone. Undertriaged children had significantly higher mortality, longer ICU stays, and increased costs, suggesting the combined approach better identifies high-risk patients needing immediate trauma team activation.
