The impact of post-operative opioid guidelines on prescribing behaviors in the pediatric population

This study demonstrates that implementing expert-derived opioid prescribing guidelines for seven common pediatric surgical procedures significantly reduced overprescribing among general surgery residents. Pre- and post-intervention surveys showed decreased mean opioid doses prescribed and improved guideline compliance across all procedures.
