Geospatial Mapping of Pediatric Surgical Capacity in North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo

This geospatial study assessed pediatric surgical capacity across 40 facilities in North Kivu, DRC, finding that while 68.9% of the population lives within 15 km of a facility, only 48.1% have access to facilities meeting minimum WHO safety standards. Critical gaps include severe shortages of trained pediatric surgeons, anesthesiologists, and emergency medicine providers.
