The G178A polymorphic variant of INSL3 may be linked to cryptorchidism among Egyptian pediatric cohort

This genetic study of 160 Egyptian children identifies the G178A polymorphism in the INSL3 gene as a potential susceptibility factor for cryptorchidism, with the mutant A allele significantly more prevalent in affected patients (26.2%) versus controls (12.5%). Family history and consanguinity emerge as additional risk factors for testicular maldescent.
