Analysis of the predictors of surgical treatment and intestinal necrosis in children with intestinal obstruction

Retrospective study of 334 pediatric intestinal obstruction cases identified blood biomarker panels that predict surgical need (83.5% accuracy) and intestinal necrosis risk (73.7% accuracy). A 7-variable model including age, WBC, CK, troponin I, myoglobin, CRP, and fibrinogen helps clinicians determine which patients require operative intervention versus conservative management.
