Can botulinum toxin help in managing children with functional constipation and obstructed defecation?

Randomized controlled trial of 40 pediatric patients with functional constipation and obstructed defecation found that intraanal botulinum toxin injection provided no additional improvement in defecatory function over standard bowel management and laxatives alone, as measured by Rintala scores at 6-month follow-up.
