Upregulation of human endogenous retrovirus-K (HML-2) mRNAs in hepatoblastoma: Identification of potential new immunotherapeutic targets and biomarkers

This study identifies upregulated human endogenous retrovirus-K (HERV-K) expression in hepatoblastoma tumors compared to normal liver tissue, with one provirus showing 300-fold increased expression. The findings suggest HERV-K could serve as both a novel immunotherapeutic target and biomarker for this common pediatric liver malignancy.
