A piglet model of iatrogenic rectosigmoid hypoganglionosis reveals the impact of the enteric nervous system on gut barrier function and microbiota postnatal development

This study establishes a neonatal piglet model of iatrogenic rectosigmoid hypoganglionosis to investigate Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis mechanisms. Results demonstrate that enteric nervous system deficiency causes significant gut barrier dysfunction, tight junction protein alterations, and colonization by proinflammatory bacteria during early postnatal development.
