Lactic acid level as an outcome predictor in pediatric patients with intussusception in the emergency department

Study of 249 pediatric intussusception cases demonstrates that elevated lactic acid levels predict poor outcomes including recurrence and surgical intervention. Lactic acid ≥3.0 mmol/L showed 88.9% positive predictive value for treatment failure, suggesting it can guide clinical decision-making in emergency settings.
