Feasibility of Nonanatomical Liver Resection in Diligently Selected Patients with Hepatoblastoma and Comparison of Outcomes with Anatomic Resection

Retrospective study of 120 hepatoblastoma patients demonstrates that nonanatomic liver resection in carefully selected cases achieves equivalent oncologic outcomes to anatomic resection, with reduced operative time and blood loss. No local recurrences or positive margins occurred in the nonanatomic cohort, challenging traditional guidelines that discourage this approach.
