Clearance of tunneled central venous catheter associated blood stream infections in children

Retrospective study of 140 pediatric patients examining bacteremia clearance after tunneled central venous catheter removal for CLABSI. Nineteen percent developed persistent infection with median clearance time of 2.7 days; no patient risk factors predicted persistent bacteremia, supporting brief line holiday before reinsertion.
