The effects of smoking on adolescent trauma patients: a propensity-score-matched analysis

This propensity-matched analysis of nearly 33,000 adolescent trauma patients demonstrates that smoking significantly increases pneumonia risk (3.1% vs 1.1%) and hospital length of stay in injured teens. The findings highlight the need for targeted smoking cessation interventions in this vulnerable population.
