14 Years’ experience of esophageal replacement surgeries

This 14-year retrospective study of 93 pediatric esophageal replacement cases demonstrates that gastric transposition via trans-hiatal route is the preferred technique, with 90% conduit viability despite complications including anastomotic stenosis (13%) and reflux (19%). The series provides outcome data on alternative conduits and surgical approaches in resource-limited settings.
