Analysis of 159,675 pediatric surgical cases identifies four procedures—complicated appendicitis, gastrostomy, uncomplicated appendicitis, and fundoplication—that account for over half of all 30-day unplanned readmission costs and length of stay. These procedures should be prioritized for targeted prevention interventions to reduce healthcare burden.
